Granada, Spain

View of Alhambra from the Viewpoint

Granada is one place in Spain that I absolutely fell in love with. I rave about it all the time and have advised many people to go there if they are looking for a short break away. I only had the opportunity to stay here for a few days but my word is this place stunning! I was lucky enough to have a friend who lives and works as a ski instructor over there. Yes this place is in the South of Spain and you can ski! Even more exciting than that though, you're also only half an hour away from the beach as well! So in the space of one little city you have the choice of hitting the Sierra Nevada slopes, or basking in the sun on the beach.
As well as those perks, this place is also very picturesque with some gorgeous viewpoints. I could have spent hours overlooking the city and watching the sunset. But then again I could have also spent hours strolling around the Old Arabic quarter, or hours in the quirky little cafes overlooking the Alhambra whilst perched on a beanbag, or alternatively spent hours roaming the streets and enjoying the abundant selection of tapas.

I wish I could tell you more about where exactly to go but I was often just taken along for the ride in a car or just plonked in a cafe or bar without knowing the name. But I can tell you that you can't really go wrong in this city.

I do remember one tapas bar named La Bella y La Bestia - in the city centre and for just a couple of euros for a drink you get a huge starter platter of tapas for free, followed by a main course if you buy a second drink!

There was also this cafe which was situated in the Old Arabic Quarter, kind of hidden away. But with a great little chill out room with a fantastic view of the Alhambra.

This place is also very cheap to live and has a great student nightlife if you are looking to come over here to study or work. Rent was only around 150 euros a month! A massive difference in comparison to Barcelona and Madrid.

Overall, The main attractions of Granada.....

Sun.....Sea.....Ski.......Sites......Tapas.......Cheap food and drink......Culture......Nightlife......I am sure I can think of more but I am pretty sure those reasons are more than enough to get me to go and visit a city.
